THE PUBLISHING STANDARD
Make the event easy to trust and easy to attend.
Strong event operations reduce uncertainty before registration, protect attendee privacy, and plan for access from the beginning.
01One source of truth
Use one canonical event page for the title, purpose, schedule, speakers, location or access link, registration, and updates.
02Date clarity
Show the weekday, full date, start and end time, named time zone, registration deadline, and whether the event is in person, virtual, or hybrid.
03Access before arrival
Publish venue routes, captions, interpreters, sensory considerations, breaks, and an accommodation contact before registration closes.
04Minimal registration
Collect only what the event truly needs, explain how information will be used, and keep health details out of general event forms.
05Useful confirmation
Confirm registration immediately, include a calendar hold, then send concise reminders and any change from the canonical page.
06A complete closeout
Share promised resources, thank participants, collect brief feedback, reconcile expenses, and document what to improve next time.
Accessibility belongs in the first planning conversation.W3C recommends accessible venues or platforms, accommodation questions, captions or interpreters as needed, usable schedules, and advance materials.
